I will be conducting an ethnography focusing on marine medicinal use within local communities on Mo'orea and Tahiti. This pilot study for my dissertation will be part of a larger project, the Polycone Project, with PIs Tamatoa Bambridge, Camille Maze, and Alexander Mawyer. The methodology will consist of interviews and participant observation and therefore will have no actual take or manipulation of the ecosystem. I will be working with community members and will be part of a larger team that has a robust and established social network throughout French Polynesia. The location of the reserve is advantageous to understand how marine management regimes effect local quotidian marine resource use, which is directly relevant to my research.
