CSU Desert Studies Center, Zzyzx

18 Mar, 10 AM - 19 Mar, 04 PM

This short-course is an introduction to some of the widely used field methods in hydrology and watershed analysis, focusing mostly on field measurements and discussion on the use and interpretation of index parameters (specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH); sampling and preservation of nutrients and trace elements (nitrogen and phosphorous compounds, metals); and most importantly, techniques for gauging streamflows and for collecting hyporheic groundwater. The course deals with the theory and applications of field techniques in hydrology. Physical, chemical, and isotopic methods are included with applications to groundwater and surface water hydrology. The course will consist of field activities, projects and assignments.
