This is our third and last field trip to Coal Oil Point for spring 2023. The purpose of this field trip is to repeat observations made along six fixed transects at Coal Oil Point made at the end of April this year. Students will work in groups measuring vegetation transects along 6 fixed transects estimating canopy height, measuring species composition, surface albedo and temperature. They will use digital cameras to quantitatively measure fractional cover using a CCD camera and surface temperature with a FLIR. Depending on weather conditions, we may include spectroscopic measurements with an ASD.
