Santa Cruz Island Reserve
05 Jan, 11 AM - 07 Jan, 02 PM
We will collect bedrock samples for (U-Th)/He thermochronology analyses at the Thermochronology Lab in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan. From these results, uplift rates averaged over the past few million years can be calculated for Santa Cruz Island. We are targeting rocks that are Miocene or older (>5 million years). These rock units are crossed by dirt roads that travel from the Central Valley to Morse Point and to Willows Anchorage.
