Santa Cruz Island Reserve

24 Jul, 11 AM - 27 Jul, 03 PM

My field assistant and I plan on visiting populations of Abronia umbellata and Abronia latifolia that are present on the Santa Cruz Island Reserve. At each population we plan to estimate population size using 2 x 1000m transects. We would also take morphological measurements (leaf and umbel) of ~30 individuals of each species (and any hybrids). Additionally, we would like to collect 5-7 leaves, 1 fruit and 1 flower from each individual we take morphological measurements from to be used in genetic analyses once we return to Queen's University. The tissue we take from the plants will have no adverse effects on their health.
