Santa Cruz Island Reserve

Students will learn how to read topographic maps and use a compass in the field, make simple geologic maps, while doing various field transects across the island. Emphasis will be on becoming proficient at basic geologic observations, determining field locations, and map making. Class room time will be spent on rock and formation identification, compass and map reading, and learning the fascinating geologic history of southern California.
