We will first do a scanning of A. dendroideus and other different Acmispon spp populations that could be present in the reserve. If populations are identified we will then proceed to excavate whole plants. Samples will be transported in sealed plastic bags to the laboratory where they will be washed to remove soil with tap water and sterilized tools will be used to remove root nodules. Nodules will be surface sterilized with bleach and rinsed with sterile water before being crushed with glass rods and the contents plated on a modified arabinose gluconate medium (MAG).
