Undergraduate student, Anthony Gomez, will conduct playbacks to Swift (Cornell Bioacoustics Research Program) autonomous recording units from varying distances (5m, 10m, 25m, 50m). I will play 4 sounds at each distance (i.e. the female-only ISSJ rattle call, a newly described male-only call, a shek call given by both sexes, and a computer-generated broadband sound). Swift unit placement will be randomized in each habitat type and the Swift unit will be mounted on a pole at a uniform height. Multiple playbacks will be conducted at different times of day and different weather conditions at each habitat type.
