23 Nov, 12 PM - 24 Nov, 03 PM

Students will visit existing platforms and place 10 acorns inside. The students will them set up away from the platform to observe the jays cache the acorns in the surrounding burn scar. Using a range finder and GPS unit, the students will estimate the location of the cache acorn and record in the GPS unit. Acorns that are dropped or eaten will also be recorded. Any remaining acorns will be removed after 15 minutes, and the students will move to the next canyon to work on another set of platforms.
