Our long-term project is to analyze vegetation dynamics on SCI over a 30 year period (1990 – 2021). 100 plots were established in 1990 to 1991 to monitor vegetation changes over the long term. The purpose of this trip is to prepare data protocols and datasheets for the first large sampling event next spring and to collect plant samples in peak spring. I will be taking plant samples for keying as well as samples to press and mount for the Cal Poly Herbarium. This would include smaller samples of branches with reproductive parts from larger woodier species and entire specimens from smaller grasses or forbs that appear in abundance. Photos will be taken of plants that do not appear to be common.
