For the last 18 years the National Hispanic Environmental Council (NHEC) had operated 2-3 "Environmental STEM Institutes" each summer for top college (undergrads) STEM students of color, all pursuing enviro and natural resource science majors. The Institutes are a residential, 10 day long, intensive, science-heavy and hands-on field program. The 8th California Environmental STEM Institute will be held June 12--21, 2022. The visit to and envir. field studies/research conducted on Santa Cruz at the UCSB Field Station will be a key part of this Institute. The dates we seek are Thurs, 6/16 to Sat, 6/18, 2022. Students will arrive the morning of 6/16 and depart on the 3 pm boat on Sat. 6/18.
