The internationally renown artist Richard Diebenkorn was a close friend of the Santa Cruz Island owner Carrie Stanton. Diebenkorn visited the island various times and painted island scenes that are now in museums and private collections. Much of his work is considered abstract. With that in mind, experienced members of the Santa Barbara Abstract Art Collective (AAC) will travel with me to the island to visit the locations that Diebenkorn painted and record their impressions of these same locations. The resulting images will be displayed at a location to be determined, and a portion of the sales will be donated to support the work of the UCNRS facility on the island. The experience will be published in the popular media with the intention of highlighting this unique piece of island history.
