Microbial community assembly is influenced by dispersal limitations at the local and landscape scale (Peay et al. 2012). Both geographical and environmental factors have consistently been shown to shape microbial gene flow at large spatial scales and drive fungal population differentiation (Ellison et al. 2011; Mboup et al. 2012; Whitaker et al. 2013; Talbot et al. 2006).
