Sweeney Granite Mountains Desert Research Center
13 Nov, 12 AM - 16 Nov, 11 PM
The Center for Religion and Spirituality is leading a workshop in the Mojave Desert where participants will experience spectacular physical beauty and contemplative spaciousness at Norris Camp, a site administered by the University of California’s Granite Mountains Desert Research Center in the Mojave National Preserve.
Embodying the values of Community, Accompaniment, Social Justice and Awareness, the workshop will include activities such as communal meals, guided conversations, contemplative exercises, hiking in the area and, in true mystical fashion, time to do absolutely nothing. Join us for a journey deep into both the physical and spiritual deserts.
Faculty from LMU: Prof. Douglas Christie, Professor emeritus of Theological Studies; Prof. Rubén Martínez, Fletcher Jones Chair in Literature and Writing; Prof. Jennifer Abe, Professor Emeritus of Psychological Science
Special guest: Gary Paul Nabhan, professor emeritus, University of Arizona.
