The purpose of this trip is to use the time at the reserve to scout the area and plan for future student excursions and service learning through an interdisciplinary approach via environmental sustainability using science and literature. We would like faculty to explore the opportunities offered through the UC Reserve System at Big Creek. We have spent many prior semesters enriching student outcomes through our "Steinbeck Country Program". Many of our students have gone on to attend and graduate UC Santa Cruz and we hope to continue this positive outcome.
