Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve
06 Sep, 12 PM - 09 Sep, 12 PM
I am the Digital Imaging and Lab Specialist at UCSC and a recent graduate from the Art Department, focus in photography. I would like to conduct photographic research, specifically at the Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, for I have been to the location twice before and am familiar with the landscape. The monumental and grand atmosphere lends well to the images I am striving to create. I am interested in the imagery of the human figure in relation to the natural landscape, its historical contexts, and modern applications. My self-portrait series, Soma, externally exemplifies the internal conflict of belonging and not belonging. The human body acts as a physical and personal marker to create a dialogue surrounding identity, integration, and the human figure in relation to nature. During my time at the reserve, I plan to hike to and photograph multiple locations in which I can create more images for my series.
