I plan to scout for potential sites that are optimal for tick sampling. I will conduct baseline tick surveys in oak woodland and chaparral settings. I would also like to sample for ticks in burned and non-burned areas. Site scouting and tick sampling should take less than 5 hours. I will be traveling by foot on the reserve, unless more ideal tick and fire locations are preferentially accessible by car. I will require an area to set up my own tent and kitchen cook wear.
