We plan to investigate changes in soil properties resulting from the Dolan Fire, with the aim of learning more about how these properties have controlled the highly variable post-fire debris flow response from the late January 2021 atmospheric river event. We hope that the measurements we make in the Dolan Fire burn scar, including at the Reserve, will help expand our knowledge of long-term climatic controls on post-fire debris flow risk, as society continues to face an unprecedented risk of wildfire-related hazards due to climate change.
