Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

09 Oct, 02 PM - 13 Oct, 06 PM

The Treseder Lab will be studying the impacts of recent wildfires on mycorrhizal fungi associated with redwood (sequoia sempervirens) forests. Supported by Save the Redwoods League, our lab will be visiting wildfires across Sonoma, Santa Cruz, and Monterey Counties. By studying fires in the central and southern range of the redwood coast, we can better predict how fires will affect the drier redwood groves of southern range in Monterey County. Since recent studies showed mycorrhizal fungi are critical for the function of redwood forests, understanding how climate driven wildfires affect them is imperative for their conservation and recovery. Need a place for 3 graduate students to stay while conducting field research at the nearby Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
