On this visit, we hope to take all our data. We will use short transects along the trail to count large and small individuals of each species to calculate the survival and recruitment post-fire. We will work within 1-2 meters of the trail. We will sample microclimate (slope, aspect, elevation, temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, light levels, frond angle) every 10 meters for broadly distributed species or every 0.5 meters for clustered species. For microclimate, we will use a compass, Kestrel hand-held weather station, sunfleck ceptometer, and iPhone to take data.
