Team members will be setting up Malaise and pitfall traps at the Gatehouse weather station upon arrival. These traps will be left overnight and collected the next day. Soil (~20mL) will be collected from the pitfall trap holes for eDNA purposes. Water from Big Creek will be filtered to collect eDNA, with all water returned to the site immediately. We will also collect aquatic invertebrates from the creek following the statewide SWAMP protocol. If possible, 2 - 3 cups of damp leaf litter will be sifted for invertebrates.
