Writing Workshops: we are a writing group comprising graduate students of UCSC's literature program each working on a different creative/critical writing project. Our goal is to come together to discuss our research, in topics like entangled ecologies and indigenous methodologies, place-based writing, and the embodied experience of place, and to share our works in progress--including two novels, a short story collection, and a body of critical research, each at different stages of completion. We will hold writing workshops to share and receive feedback from each other, as well as daily writing sessions following embodied encounters with the land. We are eager to have the opportunity to conduct our embodied practices at the UC nature reserve and to include our experience of the Esselen tribe's native lands in our body-based research and writings.
