Tick drags in areas of the reserve with reported high tick abundance. The focus of the drags will be on adult populations of Dermacentor occidentalis and Ixodes pacificus, if applicable. These ticks will be collected and stored in the Young lab until a week before the scheduled prescribed grassland burn at Sedgwick later this summer. At that point these adult ticks will be placed within the fire zone in mesh bags protected by metal cages as part of a survivorship experiment to investigate the effect of prescribed burns on tick populations.
