Sedgwick Reserve
03 Jul, 05 PM - 18 Jul, 05 PM
During our visit, we (2 postdoctoral researchers: Jayme and Vaughn, and an undergraduate assistant, Mia) plan to collect approximately 10-20 adult individuals of three species of butterfly (Agrualis vanillae; Vanessa annabella; and Junonia coenia) using targeted insect net capture. We will be doing wandering transects in order to accomplish this. Specimens will be immediately and humanely euthanized and stored in ethanol (which we will be bringing) for later genetic sequencing. As a result, our work will have very low impact on the reserve and zero to minimal impact on any other taxa.
