We plan to initiate two different research projects. The first is to begin Sandy Beach Monitoring work in partnership with LiMPETs, NOAA and the Chumash Heritage NMS. This work will be conducted off site, but will over time transition to include Rocky Intertidal Monitoring LiMPETs plots on the reserve. The second project is to begin long-term monitoring of the Coastal Sage Scrub plant communities on the reserve by establishing a series of 10-15 permanent plots that will be visited twice per year. This study will incorporate point-intercept, line-intercept and total woody species count at each plot, and will, to the extent possible, incorporate both aspect and elevation differences between plots.
