I will be trapping Allen's hummingbirds to collect blood and feather samples. My time will consist of scouting for birds, placing feeders near territorial birds, and trapping them. I need at least 1 individual, but ideally up to 20 individuals from this site. I will be setting out up to 10 feeders (on shepherd's hooks or natural branches) at a time. To maximize my time spent catching birds, I will arrive at Rancho Marino, stay overnight, scout birds and place feeders, then leave for a day to another site (Hastings) to place more feeders, then come back to Rancho Marino for three days to catch birds. I will then take down all hooks and feeders before leaving.
