Make observations of coastal geology with the Physical Geology Field Studies students. Overall on this leg of the trip, we will explore coastal geology of the coastline from Morro Bay to Big Sur. The Norris Reserve will allow students to experience an active emergent coastline including a spectacular marine terrace, sea arches, sea stacks, etc. Achieve the SLOs for the course, as follows: • Apply key elements of the scientific method to the examination of a geologic field problem. • Recognize and interpret basic rock types and geologic features in a given field area. • Evaluate the role of plate tectonics in producing the geologic features. • Understand basic geologic features of Southern California.
