Blue Oak Ranch Reserve
21 Jun, 10 AM - 22 Jun, 04 PM
As part of the California Insect Barcoding Initiative in collaboration with several other institutions, the Essig Museum is collecting terrestrial arthropods as both an inventory of California insects, spiders, and their relatives, and acquiring specimens for DNA barcoding to build a molecular identification library. The current visit is to install traps as part of our monthly survey protocol. In particular, we will install a malaise trap and pitfall traps to be serviced the following week, as well as netting, hand collecting, and UV light sampling during the time of visit.
