I am teaching a summer course called The Contemporary Era, which fulfills our campus' Climate Change requirement, and a GenEd requirement for students at UCSD's Eleanor Roosevelt College. The program sets the natural resources of California and conflicts over their use, conservation, and preservation, in a broader context of contemporary history. This requires students to directly experience places that we focus on in this course, including in the area in and around Yosemite National Park.
