Yosemite Field Station

28 Aug, 12 PM - 07 Sep, 12 PM

Artists will work out of the Wawona Field Station, near the Mariposa Grove, in Yosemite National Park. They will explore local intact forests and also visit nearby burns, including local controlled burns and the catastrophic Creek Fire (https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7147/). During daily field excursions into nearby burned and unburned forests, artists will draw, write, and paint together as they share, document, and compare their experiences; they will collect impressions; study forest and fire ecology to expand understanding of what is witnessed while there; (remotely) interview scientists who are studying fire and changes in western forests; and generate creative work in response to all these activities, both individually and in collaboration, in the forms of paintings and artists books.
