The purpose of this visit is to (1) collect leaves from 5-10 individuals of each plant species (approximately 20 species per reserve) and (2) measure heat tolerance in the lab/field station by subjecting leaves to different temperature treatments using small water baths. The species targeted for sampling will be chosen in consultation with Reserve staff, and Co-PI Gary Bucciarelli has already initiated these conversations. We have already submitted a permit application to NPS to collect leaves and are awaiting approval.
