I plan to conduct an experiment at the Reserve. I am examining the effects of the insect, water boatmen, on survival of brine shrimp nauplii in Salton Sea water. I require a location where 30 vials of Salton Sea water containing a variety of invertebrate animals can be exposed to eh ambient temperatures of the area, but be protected from extensive periods of direct sunlight. The goal is a better understanding of the ecology of the Salton Sea and the ecological transitions occurring there. I would like to start the experiment on or about October 9. It will take about two weeks to complete. All that is needed is about two square meters of space in a protected, outdoor, shaded location.
