Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center

12 Mar, 10 PM - 15 Mar, 10 AM

We will be capturing 30 common side-blotched lizards using a "lizard lasso" approach. Captured lizards will be measured (snout-vent length, weight, etc.), will have their body temperature recorded using a no-contact infrared camera, and will be photographed from various angles using a DSLR camera modified to be sensitive to ultraviolet light. We will be collecting ~1cm of tissue from the tip of their tails and storing this in home-made RNAlater. Captured lizards will be returned to the exact geographic coordinates where they were captured.
