Resurvey at Three Willows Pond. On July 13, Christy and Francesca set up a detector at 37.389096,-120.376664. To avoid ground disturbance we attached the detector to a fence which was ~100m farther back than one would ideally place a detector from the water source/habitat feature target. The detector did get ~100 bat calls, but Francesca and Christy are curious to see if placing it closer to the water using tent stakes (no rebar) to stabilize the pole and be more in line with a bats flight path would help improve our results. It's hard to give an exact idea of where I would place the detector next time because the pond is significantly drier than the imagery on ArcGIS and Google Earth suggests, but if allowed I would hope to place it ~10-20m from the water.
