Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve
11 Mar, 09 AM - 11 Mar, 11 AM
Walking tour to learn about the Reserve’s natural history, geology, ecology, land management (cattle grazing), stewardship (monitoring of threatened and endangered species), and ongoing research activities, including viewing and identification of local flora and fauna. Tours to take place almost completely on the Campus Buildout Lands. However, as the buildout lands dry out and floral displays wane, these small groups may walk briefly on the Conservation Lands (~20 mins). These tours focus on conservation advocacy, explaining the history of UC Merced and the need for strict conservation lands, leave no trace ethics, land stewardship and protection of T&E species.
