Monitor Aphanisma blitoides and Dudleya brevifolia using the San Diego Management and Monitoring Program's (SDMMP) rare plant Inspect and Manage (IMG) monitoring protocol. The SDMMP rare plant IMG monitoring includes: (1) using a regional, standardized protocol to monitor rare plant occurrence status, habitat, and threats; (2) using monitoring results to inform future management needs; (3) identifying routine versus intensive management actions; and (4) prioritizing regional funding for intensive management projects. Rare plant monitors annually collect IMG data for target rare plants in permanent circular monitoring plots, at photograph monitoring locations, and in the current and maximum rare plant extents. Data collected includes target plant abundance, phenology, visual percent cover, a habitat assessment, presence and severity of threats, management recommendations, and spatial mapping. Monitors submit all data to the SDMMP and to land managers upon request or to comply with permit requirements.
